A blue still life inspired by a long gone blue hand blown glass pitcher bought on a trip to Paris years back. The rich blue glass is a beautiful contrast to the softer and livelier botanical shapes and colours. The pure pigments of the handmade soft pastels express the translucency of the glass just beautifully and leave a wonderful matt satin smooth surface. It’s a play of shadows and light, where I’m using the transparent qualities of the pastels to get the buoyancy and depths that I like.
