Organic forms and colours inspired by stepping stones, soft moss, babbling brooks and whispering winds.

Creating an abstract landscape on paper is much like telling a story through steep cliffs and rushing water. The tale of majestic mountains and friendly slopes are told by dry pigments rubbed into cotton paper until the whole surface is filled with colourful pigments that‘s creating images of recognisable shapes and places remembered. But its more than that, its a tale of life itself; a soulscape, a refelction on human emotions.

I like to reimagine a specific place or a recogniseable landscape and to translate it into a lyrical landscape. Abastraction allows me to incorporate the whole experience from the emotions brought about by the scent of wam earth at sunlit hills to the sounds of running water and the whispers of the wind. The landscape is dissolved and translated it into a colour mood.

I have used handmade soft pastels on 300 g cotton paper and finished it off with a thin layer of fixative. The surface is delicate and silky matte and needs the protection of glass. It ships flat packed in a box.

Illustration photo showing the artwork with frame is meant as a suggestion. It ships flat in a box.

I’ll ship it within 3 days from receiving the payment for both artwork and freight. You are welcome to pick it up in my Studio in Stavanger. If anything is unclear or you have questions please DM me or contact me on my email kristin@holmdybvig.no
